Head of Engineering

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Engineering to lead our Manufacturing Engineering organization in Tunisia. Reporting to the General Manager Tunisia and the Global Head of Operations, you will drive engineering excellence, operational performance, and continuous improvement across our automotive manufacturing sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and structure the local engineering organization within a global matrix environment.
• Ensure manufacturing processes meet performance targets (OEE >85%, scrap <3%).
• Drive continuous optimization of efficiency, quality, productivity, and cost.
• Lead Value Analysis/Value Engineering and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing practices such as Gemba Walks, Kaizen, 5S, Muda, and 4M.
• Implement Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) methodologies.
• Define, monitor, and improve engineering KPIs, standards, and procedures.
• Plan and optimize resources, equipment utilization, value streams, material flows, and plant layouts.
• Maintain engineering documentation (PFC, Control Plans, PFMEA, VSM, Work Instructions).
• Lead audit preparation and ensure compliance with automotive standards, including VDA 6.3.
• Oversee process capability studies (MSA/R&R), prototype production, samples, and spare‑parts activities.
• Act as escalation point for engineering topics and collaborate with regional and global stakeholders.
• Develop talent through coaching, onboarding, training, and career development.
• Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
• Build partnerships with universities and external institutions.
• Ensure full compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, preferably in high‑volume automotive production.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience in wire‑harness manufacturing or similar high‑volume environments.
• Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing, industrialization, process optimization, and Continuous Improvement.
• Solid knowledge of automotive quality standards, especially VDA 6.3.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Native Arabic with business‑fluent English; French is an advantage.
