Design Engineer – Tool & Die (Aerospace)

About the role

Pursuit Aerospace is seeking a Design Engineer specialized in tool and die development for aerospace forged components. The role involves creating and optimizing tooling for both airfoil and non‑airfoil products, ensuring they meet engineering and manufacturing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design forged parts and tooling for extrusion, upset, blocker/preform and final forge processes.
• Collaborate with customers and Process Engineering to validate design requirements.
• Produce detailed CAD models and drawings using Siemens NX.
• Evaluate die designs with DEFORM simulation software.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and support new tooling trials.
• Create CNC programs for machining forge die tooling and guide tool‑room staff.
• Provide design information to external vendors and lead new product launches.
• Support Tool Room, Quality Control and Metrology with CAD modeling and dimensional layouts.
• Participate in Kaizen and continuous‑improvement workshops across Pursuit sites.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of tool and die design experience in the metal‑working industry.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with CAD, preferably Siemens NX.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Required skills

• Siemens NX CAD software.
• DEFORM simulation for die evaluation.
• CNC programming and machining principles.
• 3D printing knowledge.
• Polyworks and laser‑scanning experience.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
