MHPSS Consultant (National)

About the role

The Migration Health Division of IOM Tunisia is seeking a qualified MHPSS Consultant to deliver psychological assessments and brief interventions to beneficiaries receiving Medical Direct Assistance. Working under the Migration Health Officer, the consultant will collaborate with physicians, nurses and protection staff to ensure comprehensive psychosocial support.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychological and psychosocial assessments, identify needs, and flag urgent cases for referral.
• Provide individual counselling, psycho‑education and evidence‑informed brief interventions to beneficiaries experiencing distress, anxiety, low mood or adjustment difficulties.
• Undertake follow‑up consultations, coordinate referrals to public or private mental health services, and ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, offering psychological input for case planning and advising the medical team on psychosocial considerations.
• Maintain confidential, accurate records of all consultations, assessments, interventions and referrals in line with IOM procedures.
• Contribute technical input on psychosocial issues to improve referral pathways, clinical workflows and related tools when requested.

Required profile

• University degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Professional registration or licensing to practice psychology in Tunisia, where applicable.
• Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in psychological assessment, counselling, mental health or psychosocial support, preferably with vulnerable populations.
