Architecture and GIS Assistant (UNV Assignment)

About the role

The Architecture and GIS Assistant will support the Aghlabides Medical City Project in Kairouan, a joint initiative of UN‑Habitat, ECMAK and other partners. The role focuses on collecting, managing and visualising geospatial data to inform sustainable urban planning and infrastructure development.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, organise, update and verify geospatial data for the project area.
• Maintain and enhance GIS databases and spatial information systems.
• Produce thematic maps, dashboards, geographic indicators and other visualisation tools.
• Conduct basic spatial analyses to support planning and decision‑making.
• Assist in preparing technical documents, reports, briefing notes and planning studies.
• Support urban and territorial development analyses, including land‑use and infrastructure planning.
• Monitor urban and territorial indicators, consolidate field data and prepare meeting minutes and mission reports.
• Facilitate coordination meetings with technical teams, consultants and institutional partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, urban planning, architecture, geomatics, geospatial engineering, remote sensing or a related field.
• Up to one year of relevant experience in GIS, spatial analysis, urban planning, mapping or infrastructure projects.
• Strong analytical, organisational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Fluency in Arabic, English and French.
